NOV 29, 2004 (newstodate): Swedish airport Gothenburg Landvetter is poised for a strong in-house record in cargo volume growth this year.
In the first 10 months of 2004, the airport generated a total of 55,933 tonnes of air cargo, up 31 percent on last year.
Imports, 21,413 tonnes, were up 37 percent, and exports, 21256, rose by 25 percent.
In October, total volumes were 6,237 tonnes, up 10 percent.
Imports grew by 28 percent to 3,491 tonnes, while exports were down by six percent to 2,746 tonnes.
So far this year, October has been the only month with a negative performance in exports, otherwise increasing between eight and 52 percent.
Imports have consistently been on the rise, topping in August with a 62 percent increase over last year.
All volumes included are flown cargo only, excluding trucked cargo.
