DEC 14, 2004 (newstodate): Austrian Airlines Cargo is seeing a strong performance in 2004.
-During January-end of November, our FTK is up 17 percent, compared to the European average of 10 percent, says Franz Zoechbauer, AUA VP Cargo.
-This strong growth reflects the importance of our traffic system through Vienna, which is continuously gaining momentum as the preferred East European hub. Another strong impetus is provided by our succesful expansion of routes into China, North America and Australia, where Austrian Airlines is the only European continental airline to operate direct flights.
-Our intercontinental flights connect with an extensive and scheduled trucking system to provide easy and frequent access to a wide range of East European destinations, he says.
-All AUA Cargo road feeder services are airport-to-airport. No shipments are loaded or unloaded outside airport terminals, and 95 percent of our feeder destinations are able to provide security screening of export shipments that are next taken on sealed trucks with GPS monitoring.
