DEC 08, 2004 (newstodate): Lufthansa has ordered a batch of seven long-haul Airbus A340-600 aircraft.
Deliveries are scheduled for 2006 and 2007.
The orders are in line with capacity planning for the Airbus A380, which will begin joining the fleet from the end of 2007. Besides replacing existing aircraft, the new A340-600 aircraft will provide the airline with the capacity required to accommodate forecasted demand over the next few years.
Lufthansa already operates a fleet of 10 Airbus A340-600 aircraft on its route network.
