DEC 08, 2004 (newstodate): Uzbekistan Hava Yollari plans to have 16 western-built aircraft in its fleet by the end of this year already.
The airline will thus sell off 19 Russian-build aircraft currently used, including three or five IL-76TD freighters that may reportedly go to a company based in the Emirates.
Boeing aircraft will replace the TU-54B, IL-62M, and IL-86 aircraft. The airline's AN-24 and YAK-40 aircraft used on local routes will be gradually replaced with IL-114-100 aircraft assembled at the Chkalov Factory in Tashkent.
The airline has leased three Boeing-757-200 formerly flying for American Airlines.
This month, the company will receive a new Boeing-767-300ER within the framework of a contract with Boeing Co for two aircraft of this type. Worth $169 million, the financial leasing contract was signed in 2001. The first aircraft under the contract was delivered in October 2003.
In addition to these new acquisitions, the airline operates a fleet of three Boeing-767-300, three Boeing-757-200, three Airbus A-310, three RG-85, and 27 Soviet aircraft.
