FEB 23, 2004 (newstodate): The fledgling UAE airline, Etihad, plans to take in six new aircraft this year, and start operations to a wide range of destinations.
The airline has just signed a number of bilateral agreements and obtained landing rights with the UK, Thailand, Sri Lanka and India.
Etihad has just taken possession of its third A340-300 aircraft that will enter operations by March.
With six new leased aircraft ordered this year, the airline, now operating to Beirut, Damascus and Amman, will have a total of nine aircraft flying by the end of 2004.
