FEB 05, 2004 (newstodate): The new strategy plan for the expansion of Danish airline Maersk Air will have an impact on the company's air cargo business as well.
While primarily targetting the issues of passenger transportation, the plan does foresee expansion in air cargo.
-Maersk Air Cargo will benefit from the business opportunities created by the opening of a number of new European routes, says Finn Oelund, Maersk Air president.
-Air cargo remains an important part of the airline's total product pallet, so the new strategy signals increased expansion here, too. Work has already started to asses and exploit cargo potentials within the future Maersk Air route network, Oelund says.
Part of the new strategy, Maersk Air has announced the opening af 11 new routes to destinations in Europe out of Copenhagen Airport from this summer's schedule.
