MAR 11, 2004 (newstodate): Hungarian forwarding company AES Cargo has decided to set up a project office in Libya.
The decision follows on the Libyan government's declaration on abandoning its weapons of mass destruction programs and opening up its production sites for inspection by the Proliferation Security Initiative, PSI.
The countries currently involved in PSI are Australia, Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal and Spain and the United States. Canada, Singapore and Norway are expected to join the accord in the near future.
-AES Cargo's experience in assisting with disarmament and non-proliferation efforts means the freight forwarder figures to play a key role in the PSI's efforts in Libya, says the company in a release.
