MAR 09, 2004 (newstodate): The government og Bosnia-Herzegovina intends to continue work for re-launching Air Bosna despite strong warnings from the World Bank.
-We appreciate the concern of the World Bank concerning the restructuring scheme of Air Bosna. However, the annual value of the market of the air transport of passengers is 100-120 million euro. In that market potential, domestic operator Air Bosna held a market share at 14-15 percent without being a protected local operator. It is obvious from these parameters why the government see possibilities and needs to solve the situation in Air Bosna, Nedzad Brankovic, communications and transport minister of Bosnia-Herzegovina told the press.
The World Bank has pointed out that the country could hardly bear the burden of investing in Air Bosna, that went out of business in 2003, and would rather see a new, privately-owned operator emerge in the market.
