MAR 15, 2004 (newstodate): Since March 5, Moscow's Sheremetyevo Airport has implemented a new security system.
All passengers are now screened along with their carry-on bagage in one of the airport's five Introskop X-ray screening gates, supported by eight metal detectors.
The airport is also installing a new video surveillance system, expected to become operational "very soon".
With these new equipment the airport's security system is on a par with western requirements.
