MAR 29, 2004 (newstodate): Scandinavia's main airports are vying with eachother for Malaysia to start operations into the region.
According to press reports, Malaysia Airlines has mulled plans for a Scandinavian service while it has still not been decided if the planned route from Kuala Lumpur will end at the airport of Copenhagen or Stockholm.
Swedish CAA has tabulated the ex-Sweden passenger wolume, excluding charter passengers, to be around 17,400 - more than out of Denmark or Norway.
-We have been working with the airline for years and have good hopes for Malaysia Airlines to chose Stockholm Arlanda, says Claes Hagstroem, Arlanda Airport chief operations officer.
The tabulation is, however, biased in favor of a Swedish choice by Malaysia as it does not take into consideration that many Swedish passengers actually use Copenhagen Airport as their main international point of departure and arrival.
