MAR 31, 2004 (newstodate): New budget airline Wizz Air has announced plans for a major expansion of its route network in Eastern and Central Europe.
From May 19, the airline will start operations from its hub at Katowice to London, Berlin, Milan and Rome.
Wizz Air plans to operate a fleet of nine Airbus A320 aircraft by the end of the year, and will expand with about 10 new aircraft annually. The aim is to become the regions largest operator in 2005 with a total of 20 aircraft, the airline says.
Further new destinations out of Katowice and Budapest are already at an advanced stage of planning.
