APR 05, 2004 (newstodate): After a few years off-line in Scandinavia, Alitalia is back with two weekly flights at Copenhagen, and two weekly flights at Stockholm.
Operated with MD-80 aircraft, the company thus offers around two tonnes of cargo capacity in the market, depending on passenger loads.
-We are convinced that Alitalia will take back its natural market for ex-Scandinavia airfreight for destinations in Italy, but it will of coures require some time to position the airline in the market as to destinations in Alitalia's international network, says Bo Seidelin, managing director of ScanPartners, the airline's cargo GSA in the Nordic region.
-The market will probably be slightly hesitant till proof of Alitalia's ability to transfer shipments at its Italian hubs has been ascertained, but in the slightly longer perspective I am convinced that the airline will eventually regain its share of the market, also thanks to a number of interesting points in its global network that will add value to forwarders and shippers in these markets, he says.
