APR 16, 2004 (newstodate): In contrast to other sources, the Norwegian freight forwarder Nord-Norsk Spedisjon maintains that the first flight of the new salmon freighter from Eveness in Northern Norway to Japan will be Saturday, April 24, not Saturday, April 17.
-The new freighter will operate a weekly flight from Evenes via Anchorage to Narita, and we hold a 20 tonnes allotment on the FedEx MD-11 aircraft that flies in from Frankfurt, says Terje Dypvik, Nord-Norsk Spedisjon managing director.
According to Mr Dybvik, the FedEx operation does not exclude work on a parallel project for a freighter out of Luleaa Kallax Airport in Sweden.
-We continue working on this project, and if the volumes are there it will certainly be realised, says Mr Dypvik.
