MAY 27, 2004 (newstodate): Instoneair and London-based freighter operator AirRep are cooperating to introduce an Antonov AN-74 combi freighter aircraft to the European charter market.
The AN-74 is jointly operated by Aviapaslauga and AirRep and stationed at Shannon, backed up by spare capacity.
Instoneair already has considerable traffic for the aircraft, and will concentrate on further developing business for the AN-74 among its well-established equestrian customer base.
AirRep will focus on marketing the aircraft to general charter customers.
-The aircraft offering a cargo capacity of up to 10 tonnes has exceptional capabilities for its size. The ability to ramp load means it is ideal for carrying vehicles. It can also be loaded by forklifts because of its low floor and detachable ramp. Loading is easy and fast, slashing ground time, manpower and equipment costs, says Sharon Thompset, AirRep Sales & Marketing Manager.
The AN-74 is the second aircraft type to be placed by AirRep with Aviapaslauga after the company recently based one of its Tu-204 freighters with its partner in Lithuania.
AirRep also operates the IL-76 freighter from Latvia, although it is prevented from using it on intra-European movements due to noise restrictions in the EU.
