MAY 04, 2004 (newstodate): In its fiscal year 2003-2004 ending March 31, 2004, Emirates SkyCargo lifted almost 660,000 tonnes of air cargo.
This was an increase by 26 percent, and Emirates SkyCargo now contribes some 20 percent of the airline's total turnover.
The company's freighters serving eight cargo-only destinations contribute about 33 percent of the airline's total airfreight, while the belly-hold on the passenger aircraft serving a total of 67 destinations generate the remainder.
Emirates consciously remains outside the much-coveted airline alliances.
-We have not joined anny alliances, nor followed any "guru's teachings", and have simply knuckled down to winning more supporters by offering them quality products, says sheikh Ahmed, Emirates chairman.
