MAY/ 13, 2004 (newstodate): By introducing maindeck capacity in the Finnish market, Aeroflot is breaking new grounds, says a Finnish forwarding company.
-The new Aeroflot DC-10F service to Moscow and beyond will provide the market with a new asset, and this is really a new situation and a challenge, says Anders von Bell, Waco Finland managing director.
-Earlier, Aeroflot was known as the airline you booked your freight on when no other alternative existed. That is long gone; Aeroflot is now renowned for good and consistent service, and with the freighter service Aeroflot will play a significant role especially in the Finnish-Far Eastern trade business, he says.
-So far Finnish exporters must truck their large shipments into Copenhagen or continental airports for widebody uplift, This pattern may change from now, he says.
-Aeroflot will further add competition in the Finnish market, where carriers including Finnair, Lufthansa Cargo, KLM, Air France, SAS and others are already well established. But with maindeck capacity to Russia and the Far East, Aeroflot adds new potentials, says Anders von Bell.
