MAY 14, 2004 (newstodate): Latvia's cargo volumes are not expected to increased much by the country's EU membership.
-Although Latvia became member of the EU from May 1 only, we have in practise been part of the union for four of five years already, says Olegs Korse, Riga Airport's cargo handling company.
-During this period our economy has been increasingly oriented towards the EU, and with the accesssion not much will change.
-We will probably see more airlines flying into Latvia, but the market will probably remain largely unchanged meaning that competition will stiffen and rates and costs go down in the process while total volume will grow only in tune with our economy, says Olegs Korse.
