JUN 18, 2004 (newstodate): After a rather weak April and May, the Danish air cargo volues are again rebounding.
-We noted a very promising Q1 with volumes significantly above those of last year, but the positive trend was broken from April, says Jimmy Kjarsvold, Maersk Air Cargo director.
-Generally speaking, April and May were rather weak, but during the first two weeks of June already we have seen volumes well above the full-month volumes of the two preceding months, he says.
Kjarsvold says the recent years have seen changes in the air cargo patterns as traditional seasonal variations have receded, leaving a more straight tonnage development over the year.
-It probably reflects a turn in the industry from transportation to logistics, and I expect the current positive trend to be sustained over the summer, leaving hopes for another year of positive development in Danish air cargo volumes, says Mr Kjarsvold.
