JUN 28, 2004 (newstodate): Lufthansa Cargo is determined to see the proportion of electronic bookings increasing.
-Our target is 60 percent by the end of 2006 through our three electronic channels, the internet, GF-X, and via EDI by Traxon or Tradevision, says Michael Schoop, Lufthansa Cargo Denmark.
According to Mr Schoop, the target for 2003 was 30 percent while the actual score was 25 percent.
-As the most widely used electronic tool in the NOrdic region, Tradevision has not earlier been able to receive e-bookings of our td-products, our e-bookings score was as low as 10 percent. This problem has now been solved, so we expect to see a strong increase here as well, he says.
-Electronic booking is clearly the way forward for the industry. Phone bookings of uncomplicated shipments is a pure waste of resources, both on the part of the forwarder and of the airline, says Michael Schoop.
