JUN 28, 2004 (newstodate): Scandinavian cargo GSA, WECO-AIRCARGO expects significant business growth with its customer Leisure Cargo in the Nordic markets.
-So far we have relied on airline trucking services from Scandinavia to Leisure Cargo's hub at Dusseldorf, but the situation will change now, says Morten Lovstrand, WECO-AIRCARGO2.
According to Mr Lovstrand, the GSA has secured an agreement with new budget airline in Scandinavia and Finland, V Bird that already operates from Niederrhein to Copenhagen and Helsinki, and plans to add Stockholm from July 9.
-Under this agreement we can utilize the two to three tonnes cargo capacity on the airline's A320 morning flight out of Copenhagen as this is a night-stop operatation that enables us to load the airfreight without comprising the carrier's demands for short turn-around times, says Mr Lovstrand.
-We are now working to obtain a similar agreement with V Bird for its coming operations at Stockholm, he says.
The cargo volumes into Niederrhein are forwarded by truck to Dusseldorf from where Leisure Cargo member airline LTU operates an extensive route network. A bonded truck service is in the pipeline.
-Of special interest are the operations out of Dusseldorf to Miami and Santa Domingo that provide ample connections with many regional airlines to a wide range of destinations in Central and South America, says Mr Lovstrand.
