JUN 21, 2004 (newstodate): Tallinn Airport has engaged on a major program for upgrading the facilities to better meet the demands for more civil aviation in the country.
The program is backed by EBRD that has provided a USD 14.2 mio loan for the purpose.
-This project is particularly welcome in light of the increase in international traffic, which has gone up by 30 percent for passenger traffic and doubled for cargo traffic, and in light of the need to comply with international safety standards, says Tnu Mardo, General Director of State Enterprise Estonian Airports.
The EBRD loan will finance an upgrading of the existing runways and taxiways, new runways and taxiways, and installation of new approach lights systems.
