JUL 26, 2004 (newstodate): Slovakia has announced an open tender for a EU border inspection post at Bratislava Airport.
The enlargement of the EU with 10 new member states on May 1 included the opening of 37 new BIPs, including stations at six airports.
Bratislava Airport was not on this first list, but plans to qualify through acquisition of equipment for a BIP and for a staff training center, both covered by the EU tender.
The current list of new airport BIPs includes Warsaw Okecie Airport in Poland, Vilnius Airport in Lihuania, Luqa Airport in Malta, Larnaka Airport in Cyprus, Prague Ruzyne Airport in the Czech Republic, and Budapest Ferihegy Airport in Hungary.
