JUL 26, 2004 (newstodate): Despite sustained US trade sanctions against Iran, the country has been able to import 39 western-built aircraft during the last two years, an Iranian website says.
Quoting a government official, the website reports that 22 are already in commercial operations, and 17 more will be added during this year.
The official says that negotiations for a further 32 aircraft are currently in progress, and contracts will be signed "soon".
