JUL 29, 2004 (newstodate): Lithuanian Airlines is preparing for a busy autumn and winter season, including the start of flights from Vilnius to Dublin from August 2.
The thrice-weekly service, operated with Boeing 737-500 aircraft, was originally slated to start from the winter program, but high loads on the airline's flights to London, including transfer volumes to Ireland, has proved the value of an earlier start.
The route will be operated non-stop, but local sources say plans also include a routing via London in connection with a later expansion in frequency.
From July 1, 2004 Lithuanian Airlines increased the number of weekly flights to Paris from three to five, and now also flies more often to Berlin and Hanover from Palanga.
From May 17, 2004 Lithuanian Airlines provides connections to Madrid and Barcelona via Frankfurt and Brussels under a code-share agreeement with IBERIA.
From May 20-21, 2004, LAL increased the number of flights to London from 10 to 12 per week, and to Brussels from three to five per week, and from June 1, 2004 Lithuanian Airlines increased the number of flights to Moscow from six to 11 per week.
Lithuanian Airlines also plans to inaugurate a new route from Vilnius to Milan before the end of this year.
