JUL 12, 2004 (newstodate): In July 13, UNHCR plans to operate the first of four flights with relief equipment destined for N'Djamena, Chad.
The flights, using IL-76 aircraft from a Libyan company, will leave from Billund Airport with a technical stop at Tripoli, Libya, with the first departure on Tuesday evening, followed by three more flights on the evenings of Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, respectively.
At Billund UNHCR has stored a total of 87 tonnes of blankets, 45 tonnes of plastic sheets, 30 tonnes of kitchen utensils, five tonnes of water containers, and 14 tonnnes of storage tents. All equipments is trucked into Billund from UNICEF's main store at Copenhagen and will support camps in Chad with 17,000 refugees from Darfur.
