AUG 12, 2004 (newstodate): In September, Bulgaria will open negotiations with Eurocontrol for membership of the joint European airspace program.
This is just one more step in Bulgaria's move towards more cooperation in civil aviation, and in facilitating increasing volumes of air traffic expected to develop as Bulgaria opens its airspace for European carriers from 2005.
It also coincides with the Bulgarian state's efforts to privatise its airports, excepting the capital airport at Sofia.
