AUG 18, 2004 (newstodate): Moscow Domodedovo Airport is planning for a technological update to meet ICAO's demands for Cat III status.
With enhanced operational capability the airport would be able to accomodate more traffic even during adverse runway and weather conditions.
The airport is also in the midst of a major expansion program designed to add 26.500 sq.meters to the terminal. This will allow installation of an automated luggage handling system and 50 new check-in counters.
The first stage of the program will be completed by summer 2005.
