AUG 06, 2004 (newstodate): The TU-334, poised to become the new Russian work horse replacing the fleet of ageing Tu-134 and TU-154 aircraft, is currently being tested under harsh conditions in Armenia.
The aircraft was certified in June this year, and more than 120 aircraft are estimated to be demanded by current operators of Russian aircraft.
A number of Russian aircraft makers including Mikoyan & Gurevich, and Tupolev, have pooled resources in a company to target the international market for the new short-range commercial aircraft that will expectedly be sold at most competitive prices.
