SEP 28, 2004 (newstodate): Volga-Dnepr has taken delivery of the second Boeing 747-200 for use by its scheduled cargo airline, AirBridge Cargo.
After signing the delivery documents between Volga-Dnepr Group and Alitalia on September 9, the aircraft was flown from Rome to Moscow on September 16.
AirBridge Cargo was launched early this year to provide scheduled cargo transportation on the routes between Asia and Europe via Russia.
AirBridge Cargo's first Boeing-747-200 was delivered in April, and in May it commenced commercial operation on routes from Luxembourg to Beijing and from Luxembourg to Shanghai via Moscow and Novosibirsk.
The second Boeing 747-200 will be introcued on scheduled services from October 8, allowing AirBridgeCargo to add new services and destinations highlighted by the new airports of Frankfurt, Moscow Sheremetyevo, and Tianjin.
