SEP 16, 2004 (newstodate): Boeing is sketching a profile of the 7E7 Dreamliner as an efficient cargo aircraft at the TIACA Air Cargo Forum in Bilbao.
-So far we are not yet marketing the aircraft strongly in the air cargo business, but in this forum it is natural for us to compare the Dreamliner to the Airbus alternative, A330-300, says a Boeing spokesman.
According to the information provided on the sketch at the Boeing stand, the Dreamliner can actually take more freight in the lower cargo hold as Boeing has placed the crew rest area option on an upper deck above the passenger cabin, thus freeing cargo capacity in the belly hold, reserved for crew rest area in the Airbus aircraft.
-The 7E7 will actually provide its customers with 40 to 60 percent more cargo revenue capacity than the Airbus A330, but we are currently not imporporating a freighter design in the Dreamliner project, the spokesman says.
