SEP 29, 2004 (newstodate): Partnering with US-company Strong Arm Air Cargo, Avialeasing expects to significantly increase its business in the market for cargo flights from the USA to Cuba.
-We started operations with regular weekly charters between Miami and Havana, Cuba, using our AN-26 to provide uplift capacity for various humanitarian, US Governmental organizations and missionaries under US embargo regulations, says Igor Smirnov, Avialeasing president.
Strong Arm Air cargo, US Part 135 carrier, holds the licenses for such operations, Mr Smirnow says.
-The Cuban operations have gained further potentials after the lifting of the US embargo. I think it will boost our AN-26 fleet based in USA by two more units only for that, he says.
-Together with our partner, Strong Arm Air Cargo, Avialeasing can operate to five Cuban
destinations. Our clients like the AN-26, because they are familiar with the handling of these aircraft, also operated by Cubana, says Mr Smirnov.
