SEP 15, 2004 (newstodate): Norway's provider of ATM servicces, Avinor, has decided to close down one of its four Area Control Centers.
In November 2003 Avinor decided to reduce the number of ACCs from four to two, and on April 15, 2004, the airspace in the northern part of
Trondheim AoR was transferred to Bodoe ACC.
A new sector central was established, which combined the northern sector in Trondheim and the southern sector in Bodoe.
On September 12, 2004, the next sector was moved to Bodoe, establishing ACC North as one of the two future ACCs in Norway.
The Trondheim ACC was thereby closed down, and in the first phase after the start of
operations in Bodoe, air traffic flow restrictions have been imposed.
-By october 2004 Avinor will decide the location of the ACC South, and Avinor is then planning to close down the next ACC early in 2008, says Knut-Bjarne Klaussen, Avinor Head of En-route Services.
