SEP 02, 2004 (newstodate): In an effort to attract more airline business, Prague Ruzyne Airport has lowered its aircraft landing charges since september 01.
The new discounted rate is down from 230 CzK per tonne maximum take-off weight to 200 CzK per tonne.
Also from the same date, the airport has lowered the charge paid on regular flights from newly-introduced destinations from 115 CzK to 100 CzK in an effort to encourage the expansion of the traffic system provided by the airport.
-The new rates cuts illustrate the successful continuation in cost control trend, contributing both to better economic results of airline companies and to higher attractiveness of Prague Airport, the airport says.
Among the new carriers who have launched their Prague operations this year are Swiss carrier Helvetic Airways, Sterling European Airlines, Flyglobespan, Norwegian Air Shuttle, V-Bird, TAP Air Portugal, Bulgaria Air, Saudi Arabian Airlines, Kuwait Airways, and Korean Air.
-The new scheme applies to passenger and freighter aircraft alike. Freighters also pay a noise charge according to their classification. Otherwise there are no distinctions between passenger and air cargo flights, says Vaclav Muchna, Czech Airports Authority International Affairs.
