SEP 21, 2004 (newstodate): SAS Cargo has landed a teo-year contract with Post Denmark for transportation of its global letter mail.
Volume-wise, the contract covers air transport of some 2,100 tonnes of letters from Copenhagen to about 180 countries.
The bulk of the volume will be flown out of Copenhagen on SAS aircraft, while other carriers will be used to destinations not operated with direct SAS flights.
About 67 percent of the letters are usually destined for Europe, while North America and Asia generates about 20 percent of the letter tonnage.
A division under SAS Cargo Group, SAS Air Mail ranks among the biggest distributors of international post, annually transporting some 37,500 tonnes of mail around the world.
