SEP 02, 2004 (newstodate): Swedish jet engine manufacturer Volvo Aero has acquired US-company Aero-Craft, at Connecticut.
The acquisition is part of a strategic alliance with Carlton Forge Works, one of Volvo Aero's largest suppliers, and will allow Volvo Aero to expand its range of specialized parts with fan cases.
Aero-Craft primarily manufactures components for large industrial gas turbines and for aircraft engines.
-This is a logical expansion, both technically and from a manufacturing standpoint and is in line with our strategy of specializing in fan cases. At the same time, we can take advantage of Carlton's advanced technology which already has a strong position in the area of materials, says Fred Bodin, Volvo Aero president.
