JAN 05, 2005 (newstodate): Billund Airport ended 2004 on a record-high high note, with total cargo volumes up 21.7 percent on the preceding year.
In total, the airport generated 48,424 tonnes of cargo, with imports, 22,955 tonnes, up 26.8 percent, and exports, 25,469 tonnes, up 17.5 percent.
In December volumes totalled 3,972 tonnes, up 32.8 on 2003.
The earlier record at Billund Airport was set in 2001 with 41,761 tonnes.
-We will defintely break the 50,000 tonnes mark in 2005, but this will still leave room for dynamic expansion before we hit our capacity ceiling at around 250,000 tonnes, says Jan Ditlevsen, Billund Airport Cargo Center manager.
