JAN 05, 2005 (newstodate): On January 2, Finnair completed a massive airbridge into Phuket and Sri Lanka to bring Finnish and Scandinavian tourists home from the Asian disaster areas via Bangkok.
Starting on December 26, Finnair has operated 10 evacuation flights and one converted Boeing 757 ambulance flight to Phuket and Bangkok, transporting a total of 2,351 Finnish passengers in addition to hundreds on the airline's scheduled flights.
Finnair also brought home more than 200 Scandinavian nationals, mostly Swedes and Norwegians, and flew medical teams and relief workers into the disaster scene.
