JAN 05, 2005 (newstodate): Taiwan's armed forces are standing-by to join the relief work in the Asian disaster areas.
The Taiwanese air force is preparing seven Hercules C-130 aircraft, while the army is currently gathering emergency and relief supplies, ready for shipment to the disaster zones.
Also the Taiwanese navy is readying a 8,400 tonnes transport wessel, and the campaign will be launched once the Taiwanese ministry of foreign affairs has obtained consensus with the South Asian countries involved.
