Oct 25, 2005 (newstodate): Lithuanian carrier Amber Air is still sitting on the fence awaiting the right time to start its planned route from Palanga to Billund Airport, Denmark.
-We did intend to start earlier, but plans were to fly from Palanga to Billund and from there to Warsaw, and v-v. Unfortunately we could not obtain suitable slot times at Warsaw so the plans are on hold for the moment, says Algirdas Barteska, Amber Air Dep Director General.
-We will, however, start operations between Palanga and Billund immedately after the expected imminent collapse of the current operator on the route, Air Lithuania, he says.
According to Mr Algirdas, this could happen any time now, and the airline would then be starting operations to Billund sometime in November, already.
Amber Air, in the air since June 13, 2005, currently operates two SAAB 340 aircraft under a lease contract with SAAB Aircraft Leasing, and does not expect to increase its fleet in the near future.
