Nov 30, 2005 (newstodate): As a cost-abating measure, British Airways has announced its decision to drastically cut the number of managers in the company.
By March 2008, the airline will have realised a 35 percent reduction in the number of its currently 1,715 managers.
The figure comprises a 50 percent reduction in senior managers, from 414 jobs to 207, and a proposed 30 percent reduction in middle managers from 1,301 jobs to 911 jobs, bringing the total number of management job cuts to 597.
The company plans to carry out the reduction in the number of senior managers in three phases.
Phase one will see 94 of the top executives, corresponding to 23 percent, leave the business by March 31, 2006.
