Nov 16, 2005 (newstodate): Macedonian airline MAT has signed a contradt with Embraer for delivery of one Embraer 170 and two Embraer 175 aircraft.
The first aircraft is slated for delivery in December, followed by a second delivery in summer 2006, with the third to arrive by the end of 2006.
With this order MAT has decided to aim at a unified aircraft fleet, keeping only one Boeing 737 on the roster after the arrival of the first new Embraer.
With the aircraft order, MAT has taken steps to solve the problems arising from a rift with JAT that earlier leased aircraft to the carrier but abruptly ended the lease by withholding a MAT-owned aircraft due to alleged debts accumulated by MAT.
As a temporary solution, MAT had to lease an aircraft from a Bulgarian operator to maintain its flight schedules.
