FEB 04, 2005 (newstodate): After a lapse of one full year, Copenhagen Airport has now published its cargo statistics 2004, showing a clean "zero" in changes against 2003.
In total the airport generated 335,649 tonnes of aircargo including 41,431 tonnes of imports, down 5.7 percent, 64,241 tonnes of exports, up one percent, and 229,977 tonnes of transfer cargo, up 0.8 percent.
In 2004, the airport' two largest freight operators, Singapore Airlines Cargo and Korean Air Cargo significantly increased their capacity, and IATA CASS figures show an increase in the Danish airfreight market at 13.7 percent.
Despite this, the airport's new figures show even a slight decreased in volumes.
-The explanation is to be found in SAS Cargo's IT problems connected with introduction of a new system during 2004, says Lars Korup, Copenhagen Airport cargo marketing.
-We can now see that the volumes reported in 2003 were too high, leading to incongruous comparisons as to 2004.
