FEB 08, 2005 (newstodate): The Air Navigation Services of the Czech Republic has now put its new radar in Pisek into operational use.
The Mode S radar, produced and delivered by Thales, is connected to the Thales EUROCAT air traffic management system located in Prague.
Mode S is an evolution of conventional secondary surveillance radar, providing air traffic controllers with higher surveillance data integrity and accurate information concerning the identification, azimuth, range and true altitude of aircraft.
Thales has been awarded contracts for one hundred Mode S/MSSR RSM 970S radars in 20 countries. Most of them are already installed and can be operated either in conventional MSSR or in Mode S according to customer needs.
