FEB 25, 2005 (newstodate): AeroSvit Airlines is investing 12 million US dollars in the construction of a new international terminal D complex at Kiev Borispol Airport, scheduled to be ready for opening by the end of next year.
Preparations for the construction work are already underway, with the project slated to start by the end of March, 2005.
The general contractor for the project will be appointed by the end of March 2005, and four candidates have been selected as a result of a tender organized by AeroSvit. These include TAV (Turkey), ALPINE (Austria), KESZ (Hungary) and SHUMA (Turkey).
The main part of the construction work will be performed by Ukrainian companies under subcontracts with the general contractor.
The terminal is planned for a maximum capacity of 2,000 passengers per hour, or 3.5 million passengers per year.
A further new Terminal E, based on Japanese government financing, is already in the pipeline, with work to begin in 2007 and to be completed in 2010.
