FEB 02, 2005 (newstodate): New Australian airline ECO Airlines has acquired a Russian YAK-42 aircraft.
The airline ostensibly intends to use the aircraft for passenger transport purposes between Australia and Micronesia, but its 10 tonnes cargo capacity will be used for uplift of fresh frish and other perisahbles, sources say.
This market has already for long been served with IL-18 and AN-12 aircraft by Pacific Air Express based at Brisbane.
