FEB 21, 2005 (newstodate): Since December 23, DFDS Transport has been operating a weekly freighter service from Malmoe, Sweden, to Charlotte, USA.
The service is operated for DFDS Transport by a Polar Air Boeing 747-400F departing on Saturday to arrive in Charlotte by early Sunday morning, facilitating Monday morning-deliveries within a wide area, and with easy transfer to a range of other destinations in the USA.
-The service was introduced in response to demands from a large Swedish industrial customer, and we have had no difficulties in fully filling up the aircraft from day 1, says Torben Hartvigsen, DFDS Transport gateway manager.
-While the service was initated in the Swedish market, the Danish market contributes 20-30 percent of the cargo. So if demands grow we could envisage a situation where a second flight might be considered either out of Malmoe or out of Billund, Denmark, as warranted by either of the markets, he says.
