MAR 21, 2005 (newstodate): The first flight of the re-engined IL-76 aircraft has now been slated for June this year.
The first aircraft that will later enter service with Volga-Dnepr is built by TAPO, Tashkent, and will comply with all ICAO requirements facilitating its operations at all airports.
The aircraft will be installed with fuel systems, hydraulics and injection control systems in May and will then be transferred to the research unit for flight testing and certification.
Volga-Dnepr foresees a new life till 2020 for the new-generation IL-76 that remains unique for its ability to perform self-sustaining cargo operations under adverse conditions at airports and airstrips devoid of most infrastructure facilities.
