MAR 21, 2005 (newstodate): Control of air traffic in the upper airspace above 7,500 metres over eastern Germany has now been relocated to Karlsruhe in south-west Germany.
The ATM has so far been provided by air traffic controllers in Berlin.
In line with the operational centres concept, the radar control centre in Berlin is being phased out, and all of the air traffic in eastern Germany will eventually be controlled from the Karlsruhe, Munich and Bremen control centres.
Relocation to the other two control centres is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2006.
This move follows the relocation of Dsseldorf control centre to Langen, near Frankfurt, which has been controlling air traffic over the state of North-Rhine/Westphalia since the end of 2002.
