MAR 16, 2005 (newstodate): A mega-merger may be undersay between Air China, Cathay Pacific and Dragonair, sources say.
The Swire Group comprising Cathay Pacific is reportedly negotiating to increase its currently 10 percent shares in Air China in return for the carrier's 45.73 percent stake in Cathay Pacific, that already controls Dragonair.
If the merger becomes a reality, the airline complex would constitute China's single largest player and a significant global corporation as well.
Sources say a conclusion will be reached within only a few weeks.
