MAR 02, 2005 (newstodate): Air France is the launch customer of a new airmail product by Traxon Europe.
The new product, Air Mail, enables EDI communication between airlines and postal services in order to increase visibility and cost saving potentials without requiring any extra interfaces.
With Air Mail, the postal company's consignment data is sent to the carrier in a CARDIT message, while the carrier, having processed the data, responds proactively with RESDIT shipment status updates via Traxon's EDI channel.
TRAXON Europe, set up in 1991 as a JV between Lufthansa and Air France, now claims to connect some 8,000 freight forwarders and more than 90 airlines, which together carry more than 95 percent of the world's air cargo.
